Technical SEO & AI-answer visibility
Most sites do not have an AI problem. They have a crawl, render or index problem — and it was there before.
Auspex works on the engineering layer of search: whether a machine can fetch your pages, whether it keeps them, and whether it will quote them. We work alongside your existing agency, not instead of it. We have no clients yet, and this page says so rather than showing you someone else's numbers.
Every failure is at one of five gates
Anything anyone shows you about search or AI visibility is a failure at one of five gates. Classic SEO lives at gates one and two. AI-answer visibility lives at three, four and five. Almost nobody sells gates four and five honestly, which is the whole of our differentiation.
Gate four is the one people miss. Being inside the page an engine cited does not get you named — engines routinely quote a directory listing and then name firms that were not on it. That is a diagnosable, demonstrable failure, and it is not the same problem as ranking.
What actually changed with AI search
Less than the market implies, and not in the direction most vendors sell. Google's AI surfaces run on the ordinary Search index. There is no separate AI index, no separate eligibility gate, and no new file format.
Google's own guidance, AI features and your website, is unambiguous: "There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary." On the files and markup a whole category is being sold on, it is more specific still — "You don't need to create new machine readable files, AI text files, or markup to appear in these features. There's also no special schema.org structured data that you need to add."
You will be pitched those things. We do not sell any of them, and the reason is citable rather than merely confident.
What did change is the unit of competition
The model rewrites one question into many concurrent sub-queries — Google calls this query fan-out — and each retrieves separately. You are no longer competing for one keyword but across the set of sub-questions your buyer's question decomposes into. That is real, and it changes what a page has to contain.
Citation is a brand outcome, not a traffic outcome
AI referrals are 0.14% of all web visits, against 64.69% direct and 16.04% organic over the same denominator (Semrush, 50,000+ sites, full-year 2025). Cloudflare's crawl-to-referral measurements are starker still — Anthropic crawled roughly 70,900 pages for every referral it sent in the week of 19–26 June 2025.
So we sell AI-answer work as presence and consideration, never as sessions. Anyone quoting you traffic from AI assistants is quoting a rounding error.
Classic search still pays the bills — and its click economics moved
Just over 68% of Google searches now end without a click (SparkToro, US clickstream, January–April 2026; no sample size published, browser-based only). Seer's measurement across 53 brands and 5.47 million queries found cited brands taking roughly 2.07% click-through against 0.94% uncited on the same queries.
We will also tell you where our own evidence disagrees with itself. Semrush reports organic traffic up 2.38% year over year worldwide; Graphite reports it down 2.5% across the 40,000 largest US sites — and Graphite's author is that company's CEO, who discloses the conflict on the page. Different population, different geography, different window. We name that before you find it.
Two products
Deliverables are defined as work performed, not outcomes achieved. We do not guarantee rankings or citations, because nobody can, and Google's own guidance says so.
Diagnostic audit
Ten business days. A ranked, costed fix list your developers can act on without us. Credited in full against month one if a retainer starts within 30 days — and refunded in full if it produces no finding at or above a severity we agree in writing before starting.
Monthly technical retainer
Monthly in advance, Net 14. Weekly crawl with regression detection, fix specifications with the remediation pattern named, server-log analysis of verified crawler behaviour, and the frozen prompt panel resampled monthly. A month's notice to stop.
What is included, what is excluded, and what we need from you →
What we will not sell you
This list is longer than most agencies'. Each item is excluded because it does not work, cannot be substantiated, or transfers risk onto your domain.
- Ranking or citation guarantees. Not achievable. Google states plainly that no one can guarantee a #1 ranking.
- llms.txt packages. No major engine documents consuming it, Google states it does not use AI text files, and 97% of llms.txt files received zero requests in a month across 137,000 domains measured by Ahrefs. Cheap to publish; billing you for it as a mechanism is not honest.
- A single blended AI-visibility score. One index over a noisy measurement, presented with a precision it does not have.
- Bought links, or goods and services exchanged for links. A named violation of Google's spam policies. The risk lands on your domain, not ours.
- Bulk AI-generated content at volume. Google's scaled-content-abuse policy turns on volume, thin value and ranking intent — not on whether a human typed it.
- Content production as a retainer line. Out of scope by design. We specify and test targets; your team or your agency writes the pages.
- A live dashboard. It invites reading noise as signal between cycles. You get a report with the interpretation attached.
Start with the audit
Ten business days, $1,500, credited against month one if you continue and refunded if it finds nothing material. That is the closest thing to proof we can honestly offer before doing the work.
